Outsourcing can be a means of improving the overall quality of your products. The common theme and reason behind outsourcing is cost of production. It gives the manufacturer the option of being able to reduce their overheads greatly and it is an offer to makes too much sense for them to refuse.
There are however other reasons why outsourcing could be beneficial to the manufacturer. They include:

Getting Excellent Materials And Components

Countries that a renown as outsourcing centers have several thing going for them and one of them is the accessibility to some of the best components available. Outsourcing is therefore a means for some businesses to get the best components available in the manufacturing of their products.
This could be related to economic development. In some countries, access to such components could be prohibitive cost wise if not impossible. Having them imported could add to the overhead. But these outsourcing centers either manufacture these components within their countries or have means of getting them quite cheaply. The government of such countries have made it easy for the components to be used either by removing tariff on them or providing the enabling environment for them to be manufactured locally.
They cannot afford to have sub-standard components. The fact that hundreds of thousands of manufactures gives them outsourcing contract has made it imperative to produce such components that are of high quality.
You might have a great product but putting them together in your country would make the final cost of the product too expensive to be economically viable. But the components of this product is far cheaper in such outsourcing countries. This may be due to the fact that companies have concentrated their energies in building these components in large quantities and because of the sheer size of demand, they are able to sell them cheaper.

They have an expert workforce. These highly skilled personnel can deliver on just about anything. These professionals may be hard to come across in their local countries. Even if they can find them they may not be able to afford them. This is one thing that makes outsourcing centers seem to stand out; they have expert labor force that are cheap when compared to the cost implication of getting the same set of people at home.
There labor force have been trained to handle all sorts of technical issues. Outsourcing countries are usually at the forefront of building, training and the continuous retraining of a skilled labor force that can handle the latest trends in production and design. They are at the forefront of implementing the latest technologies that will help in further reducing the cost of production.
The cost effectiveness of outsourcing to such countries is always touted but if labor is cheap without the high level of skill that is needed to handle highly technical manufacturing processes, the purpose of outsourcing will be defeated.

High Quality Manufacturing Equipment

They tend to have cutting edge machines at their disposal. These machines may be present locally but they may naturally be too expensive to procure. Running them would be expensive because they would have to employ hands that will be given commensurate pay. Centers of outsourcing are countries that are fairly developed. They have a sound industrial layout that is advanced enough to handle some of the most technical challenges that comes their way. They can product anything from simple toys to high tech communication components.
This makes them an ideal choice to meet with whatever demands you might have on them. Their technical competence and ability to deliver on goods makes them an attractive alternative. People most loud how cheap it is to outsource to such countries. What they do not do often that is also true of such countries is that they have a well oiled industrial layout that can meet up to demand that some businesses that outsource to them cannot because they do not have the capacity to do so in their country.
This makes them all the more attractive. You might have a great product but lack the both the skilled labor forces and manufacturing process to manufacture such a product in your country. When people look at outsourcing, the picture that quickly comes to mind is companies in advanced countries shipping these contracts out to renowned outsourcing centers. That is, the sole reason they do it is not because they do not have the capacity to build the products in their country since they are advanced enough to do so but they are looking at the cost of production. What some fail to realize is that companies from countries that do not have the capacity to build the products because they lack the labor skill and industrial infrastructure to pull it off also outsource to such outsourcing countries because they have the industrial capacity to product such products. The goods may be home electronics, a communication device or even an aircraft, they outsource the production because their country does not have the capacity to produce such from within.

Better Quality Control

The ability to implement advanced industrial processes also implies the strictest quality control measure would go it. they need to keep to standards, people who outsource to such countries enjoy the assurance of highly advanced quality control measures that are put in place to ensure that their products maintain a high degree of quality.
Outsourcing is not all about reducing the cost of production and cheap labor, it is a tested way of improving your product and making sure they are manufactured to the highest possible standards.
