Google AdSense Program

Google AdSense is a program run by Google that allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve automatic generated text, image, video, or interactive media advertisements, that are targeted to site content and audience. These advertisements are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google, and they can generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis.

AdSense has become one of the popular programs that specializes in creating and placing banner advertisements on a website, because the advertisements are less intrusive and the content of the advertisements is often relevant to the website. Google AdSense is a free, simple way for website publishers of all sizes to earn money by displaying targeted Google ads on their websites.

History Of Google Adsense Programm

Google launched it’s AdSense program, originally named Content targeting advertising in March 2003. The AdSense name was originally used by Applied Semantics, a competitive offering to AdSense and then adopted by Google after it acquired Applied Semantics in April 2003. Applied Semantics was started in 1998 by Gilad Elbaz and Adam Weissman. Some advertisers complained that AdSense yielded worse results than AdWords, since it served ads that related contextually to the content on a web page and that content was less likely to be related to a user’s commercial desires than search results.

In 2009, Google AdSense announced that it would  be offering new features, including the ability to “enable multiple networks to display ads”. In February 2010, Google AdSense started using search history in contextual matching to offer more relevant ads. On January 21, 2014, Google AdSense launched Direct Campaigns, a tool where publishers may directly sell ads.

Types Of Google AdSense Ads

AdSense for Content: The content-based adverts can be targeted for interest or context.

AdSense for Feeds: AdSense for Feeds works by inserting images into a feed.

AdSense for Search: A companion to the regular AdSense program, AdSense for search, allows website owners to place Google Custom Search boxes on their websites.

AdSense for Mobile Content: AdSense for mobile content allows publishers to generate earnings from their mobile websites using targeted Google advertisements. Just like AdSense for content, Google matches advertisements to the content of a website — in this case, a mobile website.

AdSense for Videos and Games: AdSense for video allows publishers with video content to generate revenue using ad placements from Google’s extensive advertising network including popular YouTube videos.

 How Google AdSense Program Works

1. Get your site ready:

You can’t join AdSense until you set your own well-established website or blog up and running. As an AdSense applicant, you’ll need to at least possess a blog or site that has a decent amount of richly written text-based content, good traffic and is at least 3 months old. Also, the site doesn’t necessarily have to be yours but you will at least need to have access to the source code for its pages so that you can coordinate where to post your ads on the pages.

Sites with Google ads must not include or link to:

– Pornography, adult or mature content

– Violent content

– Excessive profanity

– Hacking/cracking content

– Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia content

– Content that promotes, sells, or advertises products obtained from endangered or threatened species

– Sales of beer or hard alcohol etc.

2. Signup For Google Account

One account works for all Google products and services such as Youtube, Gmail, Google+, AdSense etc.

– Select AdSense from the list of Google products

– Click on the Get started now button

– Select Yes, use your current email. If you are yet to register choose the other option and create an account

– Fill in all the information requested from you

– Submit the form

Once you’ve clicked “Submit” you simply need to wait roughly 24 to 48 hours and see if you’ve been approved.

3. Insert The Adsense Code Into Your Webpage

If your site meets the AdSense requirements it will surely be approved. After been approved, log into your AdSense account (Panel) and using the included wizard generate the Google AdSense code according to your preferences.

Once you have the Google AdSense unit code you should include it in your web site. If you have an HTML web site, you can include it directly in the source code. And if you are running sites or blog powered with Content Management System (CMS) like: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal etc., read the help menu for integrating AdSense into the site.

Google AdSense Terms And Program Policies

All AdSense publishers must agree to the AdSense Terms and Conditions and are required to follow the AdSense Programme Policies. Here are some of the key principles:

– Publishers must not click on their own ads or encourage others to do so.

– Publishers must not place ads on sites that include incentives to users to click on ads or format their sites to mislead users into clicking on ads.

– Publishers may not place ads on sites that display adult content, including pornography.

– Publishers must not place ads on sites with content protected by copyright unless they have the legal right to do so.

– Publishers must not sign up for an AdSense account if they have an account already.

– Google may terminate a publisher’s use of the AdSense service, including for invalid clicks or impressions or other violations of the Programme Policies. In the event of termination, Google will withhold unpaid revenue and make its best effort to return all unpaid revenue, including Google’s share, to affected advertisers.
