Bola Ahmed Tinubu is married to Senator Oluremi Tinubu. He is blessed with four children namely Jide Tinubu(now late), Oluwaseyi Tinubu, Abibat Tinubu and Folashade Tinubu(Iyaloja General).
Before Bola Tinubu ventured into politics in 1992 he has worked for Arthur Andersen, Deloitte, Haskins, & Sells, and GTE Services Corporation all America companies and in 1983 he returned to Nigeria and worked for Mobil Oil Nigeria.
Bola Tinubu was elected as a Senator on the platform of the Social Democratic Party(SDP) where he represented Lagos West constituency but the elections was annulled in 1993 during the military dictator rule of Sani Abacha.

After the death of Sani Abacha in 1998 which ushered in a transition to civilian rule, Bola Tinubu ran for the post of Governor and won the elections on the platform of Alliance for Democracy(AD) 1999 and ruled till 2007.
