INVITATION FOR TENDER OF FOODSTUFF AND NATURAL SUPPLIERS

Good morning house,

My name Michael, I live in Portugal with my wife who is a Portuguese citizen.  We own an African shop in Portimao, Algarve area in Portugal. We deal on African clothing, dry food items and body and hair products .

Such food items may include dry fish, dry meat/chicken,kilishi,Dambu nama (shreded beef dry), Cameroon pepper, hot chilli pepper, egusi,  ogbono, bitter cola, colanuts, tiger nuts, Garri, pounded yam flour, semolina, wheat flour, dry cray fish, dry prawn,Shea Butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, mango butter, gum arabic, pure honey, African black soap (both liquid and solid),other essential and carrier oils .

We invite prospective suppliers to send samples of what they have that falls within the listed items, so we can tender them for inspection and then sign a contract with the successful suppliers.

Algarve is a tourist driven economy, and Portimao is the location of the port. This summer alone,Portimao has already scheduled more than 160 cruise ships from all over the world to dock here and our shop is a view away from the port. What better way to spread the good products you have in your line up than us.

Most importantly, if we have an understanding with you ,we would need samples sent to  us first by the suppliers . If we are satisfied, then we can proceed on orders as we need to tender all products for inspection/certification before stocking them up for sales.

We have representative in Nigeria who is ready to hold talks with you when you are ready.

looking forward to doing business with you.

Who will bear the cost of those samples and where are they to be sent? In other words, are you paying for those samples before having them sent to you?

First of all, unmark your answer as the best answer. You can not post a question and mark your own answer as the best answer. That is not democracy 🙂

That being said, I am still not satisfied with your responses. The work I do behind the scene on daily basis to protect Nigerians and our users in general from shady deals is simply unimaginable. I disapprove and delete hundreds of questions and answers as well as hundreds of comments on this site everyday. I allowed this because I want to give you benefit of doubt. So, please, we still need more clarification on this invitation.

  1. What will happen to those goods if they are disapproved by the Portuguese government? Are you going to return them back to the respective owners who have labored to get it across to Europe?
  2. In the event that the Portuguese government agency decided the items are substandard and discarded them, are you going to compensate the  owners who have in their best of knowledge sent you their best products.
  3. What are the criteria for approval, are there specific mode of preservation required for a food item to pass the test? Generally, what are they looking at in those food items?

I am asking because Nigeria is so hard now. Sending expensive items like Ogbono, Egusi, Garri, Fufu, Rice, Fried and dried meats, etc is not easy. And sending them without returns will further add pressure to our already strained economy. Pls, let us know all these things before deciding whether to send or not.

Thank you

First of all thanks for your observations and questions. The best answer tag was marked in error. I didn’t know it was for your rating. I have unmarked it.
Now to the answers, first of all the quantities of the products/goods to be sent to us should come in small quantities not commercial quantities.
The quantity for solids/grains/butters etc should be two(2) 500g packs of the garri for example .
And for oils/liquids /fluid, it should come in two (2) 500ml plastic bottles with proper seal.

Should the authorities disapprove the prices, we will not pay or refund the sender. Also note that the inspection is paid for by us and if the product is approved ,we draw up a contract of agreement that will protect both parties interest as per terms of payment and other things . Note that every transaction here must be contracted. Portugal is one of the safest countries to do business with. Make your enquiries.

That being said, the products should have no synthetic preservative/additives and also should show no sign of deterioration. This is because our licence is categorized for organic/100% natural products.
Please note, fried meat is not part of our listed items.

Thanks and have a nice day house. I am available to answer any question.
