Service Begins Where the Customer Says it Begins

Looking at the list above, you may find something that runs through each. These are places where for one reason or the other, people have to wait before enjoying the service provided (granted, you do not have to enjoy the service provided by the dentist). However, a salient point when it comes to providing service is that people consider that the service is already being provided from the point they step into that business area.
In other words, waiting at the reception area or standing on a queue in that office is considered by the customer that is waiting to be served to be part of the service. This is an important concept that some businesses do not seem to be aware of although there are those that may unwittingly provide some degree of service even when people are on a queue waiting for the actual service.
This makes me to recall an experience I had in a banking hall that was filled with customers standing in a line and waiting to be addressed. It did not take long for me to notice a staff of the bank going from customer to customer on the queue and asking them one or two things. I was interesting in knowing what she was discussing with them and got to find out when she came up to me. She asked me if I had my credit card with me and I told her I had not yet been issued she. She then went on to get me talking about this and after she left, I felt better.

Engagement

The woman was deliberately assigned to the queue to engage those waiting. This is a critical service and something others would do well to emulate. Her engagement kept those on the queue focused and at ease. The line was slow but you had a sense that you have been attended toeven when you are still on the queue waiting for your issue to be addressed.
Those that may unwittingly provide some degree of engagement and service while their customer are waiting are those that provide magazines and in some cases have a television with a live program.

VIDEO GAMING: THE ULTIMATE TOOL OF ENGAGEMENT

People avoid magazines and most television in such places are muted. Video gaming takes customer engagement to a whole new level. If you go back to some of the businesses we listed above, you can see how it could be labeled a crime if video gaming is not included as a tool of customer engagement in their setup.

CHOSE YOUR GAMES CAREFULLY!

you have to apply due diligence, considering the pros and cons when picking the form and type of video games you may want to add to your office tools of customer engagement. There are things to consider and some of them are listed below.

  • Type of clients
  • Age group of clients
  • Average time of waiting to be attended to
  • Density or average number of waiting clients at any given time

Advantages of Using Video Gaming as a Tool of Engagement

Full Engagement

There are businesses that may have a hard time peeling people away from the games (we won’t mention the dentist). Video games can be engrossing and if the business owner takes his or her time in considering some of the things we mentioned above, as it has to do with choosing the right gaming platform and games, it could add immense value to the business and customer satisfaction

Cheap to Set Up

Video gaming as a tool of engaging clients can be cheap to setup. It may be the standalone game console or something a bit more interactive and elaborate. When the benefit is measured against the cost, it will still turn out to be cheaper.

Means of Creating Interactive Promos where you give Gifts to Clients that Participate

Quite in-house promos can be organized using video gaming. It is actually a way of introducing innovative marketing and customer reward programs that would build customer loyalty. Customers on queue would be pleasantly surprised to find out that they can win something just by playing the game. There could be promos for kids participating to win one thing or the other as their parents are being attended to.
Video gaming can be used in many ways to promote your business. This is something any business owner should consider incorporating.
